Momofuku Ando: Inventor of instant noodles
Momofuku Ando Momofuku Ando invented the world's first instant noodles "Chicken Ramen" in 1958. "Chicken Ramen", which can be eaten in just two minutes after pouring hot water, is called "Magic Ramen" and quickly became a huge hit..
In 1971, he invented the world's first cup noodles, "Cup Noodles". It is the result of a combination of intelligence and creative ideas, and instant noodles born in Japan have been reborn as a global food.
In 2005, at the age of 95, Momofuku Ando succeeded in sending the world's first space food ramen he invented, "Space Rum", into space. Until the end of his life at the age of 96, he continued to have "creative ideas" and "perseverance that did not give up until the end".
Momofuku Ando's 3 inventions
First invention "Ramen Chicken Noodles" (1958)
At the time after World War II, Japan was experiencing a food shortage. Mr. Ando saw many people lining up to buy a bowl of noodles at ramen shops. He understood that food is the most important thing to sustain human life. People can only think about clothes, shelter, culture and art when their need for food is satisfied.

The image of people happily eating ramen noodles and surrounded by warm steam made a strong impression on Mr. Ando. Ultimately, people's hunger for noodles and the use of wheat inspired Mr. Ando to invent instant noodles.
2nd invention "Cup Noodles" (1971)
Cup Noodles is a product that combines various ingenious ideas and devices in aspects including lids, ingredients, and noodle frying methods. Ando once said "Persistence is the nursery of inspiration", and he not only introduced new materials and technologies but also offered new approaches to solving problems one after another. The new product born from this process, named Cup Noodles to make it easier for people around the world to understand, was introduced on September 18, 1971.
3rd invention "Space Ram" (2005)
Ando, who never lost his enthusiasm for product development even in his declining years, was 91 years old when he announced that the company would develop space food. He formed a project team headed by himself and began development. The team perfected Space Ram, instant noodles for consumption in space, coming up with ingenious ideas like thickening soup to prevent it from escaping in zero gravity and making the noodles the size and Shaped so that it can be eaten in one bite. Ultimately, however, the technology that became the basis of product development was the rapid frying process that Ando discovered in 1958.
